This case study tells about misunderstanding in the area of education in the Czech Republic. We can observe the clash in perspectives between the teacher, the Romani pupil, the head of school, the parents and the field social workers at the second grade of the elementary school.
The conflict is the outcome of differences in the socio-cultural background and the aims pursued by each of the actors involved. The inability to restate the problem and the failure to communicate were the causes behind the failure of the educational system and the resulting transfer to the practical elementary school.
The story of Romanka is just one in the multitude of cases where children are transferred to practical elementary schools.
