Abstract
Three interpretations of the poem Atala of F. R. de Chateaubriand are compared in this article: the oldest one (J.
Jungmann, 1805), and the translations of J. Fořt (1927) and O.
Reindl (1973). The interpretations are analyzed with respect to the development of Czech in the 19th and 20th century.
