Francis Celestial, Envoy Transoceanical : The Forms of the Cult of Saint Francis Xavier in the Czech Texts of the 17th and 18th Century

Abstract

The book comprises critical editions of 10 short Czech texts of different genres (prayers, meditations, sermons, descriptions of miracles...), which originate from the 17th and 18th century and relate to Saint Francis Xavier. It is supplemented by introductory study about the cult of this Saint in baroque Bohemia, short introductions about individual texts and their authors and editor’s note.
