The Sick Spirit in the Sound Body

Abstract

In its own way, Samuel Beckett creates a parodic version of the Cartesian philosohy and its conception of the soul-body relation; the spirit is dying in the very moment it seems to be liberated from the body; the speech losing its ground in the lived experience, loses the meaning too; therefore Beckett opts for the "literature of unword" a closely watches the process of word's becom, ing a gesture: its meaning could be only conjectured and we can only guess, whether it has some symbolic value or not.
