Abstract

The aim of the article is to sketch the place and role of courts in the second half of the 19th and in the first half of the 20th centuries by means of the so-called case study, to show the way how judges approached the cases, how much their judgment was independent or on the contrary, how much they were influenced and how they used, or even misused their position.
