Exploiting linguistic material acquired from the parallel corpus Intercorp, this contrastive study examines Czech equivalents of the Spanish construction “al + infinitive”. These equivalents (constituent of a sentence, transgressive, subordinate clause, principal clause, independent sentence) are conceived as different expressions of the so-called second message.
Our linguistic material corroborates that the Czech equivalents of the above-mentioned Spanish construction are very heterogeneous, but with a predominance of the subordinate clause and the constituent of a sentence among them.
