Abstract
The author deals with the concept of the nation and its changes in the works of the chroniclers and annalists in medieval Bohemia from the very beginnings of the written history in the ecclesiastical milieu in the first quarter of the 12th century to the period of the early secularisation of literacy and of the birth of the Czech vernacular historiography at the beginning of the 14th century.
