Abstract

The authobiographical work written by the Finland-Swedish author Henrik Tikkanen (Brändövägen 8 Brändö Tel. 35) in 1975 caused several debates, that all concerned the question of representativity, that means if the picture of the the author's parents, that he provides, is typical for the Finland-Swedish bourgeoisie and for the Swedish-speaking minority in Finland as a whole. Regarding the fact that the text was read even in the Swedish and Finnish speaking milieu, the polemic rose also in the Swedish press and the press written in Finnish.
