Autonomy of Sub-Carpathian Ruthenia on the background of Czech-Slovak union and Czechoslovak-Hungarian relations between world wars

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2010

Abstract

The solutionm of the problem was imfluenced by opposing forces - the demands of Ruthenians living in the USA, the interests of world powers in Central Europe, the confusion of Ruthenians living in Ruthenia and, initially, the hesitation of Czechoslovakia. With its attitude clear, Hungaria focused on propaganda and patient waiting on the possibility to move the borders.

The autonomy of Sub-Carpathian Ruthenia found itself in hard position, contrasting with integrity of the rest of Czechoslovakia, where political demands of minorities were often misused.
