Dyre prins by Christer Kihlman and Brändövägen 8 by Henrik Tikkanen, both published in 1975, were bestsellers. Their authors were invited into the TV studio on January 22th, 1976, to present them.
At the same time they were asked to define their relation to the Swedish-speaking minority in Finland – as they both belong to this minority. Their statements, criticizing the minority's institutions Swedish People's Party and the newspaper Hufvudstadsbladet raised reactions in the press.
This article tries to determine to which extent the diskussion concerned literature and to which extent it concerned other matters, expecially politics.
