The Nature of the Gradation of Adjectives (On non-comparative using of the gradated forms)

Abstract

The status of the gradation of adjectives in the description of language is considered. The cases of the "abolute" comparative constructions are studied on the corpus data (lexicalization, stylistic effects, comparison with an average).

The Czech situation is compared with Slovac and Russian comparative constructions.
