The article reminds that the journal Pedagogika (Education) celebrated in the year 2010 already 60 years of its existence. Ten years ago, survey studies about 50 years of Czech pedagogy were published in it.
Nevertheless, they were limited by four factors: articles analyzed only texts published in this journal, factual approach dominated without deeper evaluation, the context in which the events took place was neglected, and the survey did not take a stand to persons that had influence on the events in Czech education. Therefore the author of this article suggests to proceed further: to analyze seriously and evaluate thoroughly the era of the onset of socialism, the era of “normalization” and the time after 1989 in Czech pedagogy and education.
It will be necessary to make use of quantitative and qualitative approaches including “oral history” as most important facts will not be found in archives.
