Abstract
This text concerns with the problem of explaining word meaning in monolanguage dictionaries belongs to basic activities in Czech language education. The authors warn against problems connected with the going out of dictionaries and with the transformation of wordstock, something a teacher can meet when working with a dictionary in Czech language classes - not only for native speakers, but for foreigners as well.
