Abstract
In this text, we concentrate on a problem how pupils are familiar with a meaning of some words which are, from our point of view, common, although not so frequented in ordinary communication. We signalize that the semantics is not given enough attention during Czech language lessons.
It is necessary to practice semantics because we want to enlarge pupil´s word-stock and teach them to be able to use lexical items according to the communicative situation.
