Abstract

Reconstruction of juvenile and adult ontogenetic stages of arborescent lycopsid Lepidodendron mannebachense is suggested. Juvenile stage consists of unbranched columnar stem with long microphyllous leaves.

Fully matured stage had an umbrella-like determinate canopy produced by apical dichotomies. Two orders of lateral branches growing from the main dichotomies bore cones as reproductive organs.
