This poster describes the development of Russian mortality in last two decades, when there was a very sharp deterioration of mortality rates. Mortality was analyzed in terms of long-term development of basic indicators (life expectancy at birth), as well as by age, sex and cause of death.
The performed analysis marked increase of mortality mostly by middle-aged people, especially by men. This critical situation was caused especially by circulatory diseases and external causes of death.
These two groups of causes of death are often associated with unhealthy habits such as smoking and with Russia often associated alcohol. But they were also mentioned other factors that could affect the critical situation of mortality, such as the complicated economic situation during the transition.
In the conclusion are also pointed out possible consequences that this critical situation may cause in the future.
