Abstract
Europe will remain the region with world's oldest population into 21st century. Former Eastern European countries will be the oldest in the future.
The older population itself is aging and the oldest old are the fastest growing age group. Replacement migration cannot reverse the trend.
Population aging, despite its apparently negative connotations is seen as a human success story.
