Load of ecosystem of the Bílina River monitored by biofilms and sediments on the river bottom

Abstract

Matrices of the Bílina River bottom were used for monitoring the load of the ecosystem. Results of this contamination monitoring by biofilms which were taken from submerged surfaces in the river and by sediments have proved the anthropogenic load of the river, particularly by heavy metals and specific organic compounds.

Pollution sources can be found within the catchment area, these sources belong to contaminated sites very often.
