William Ritter – man of letters and literary critic (his aesthetic criterias and critics of the Czech literature)
Abstract
Tireless traveller, writer, journalist, critic and enthusiast of arts who exploited his talents in almost all domains of culture. One of the few West Europeans being closely interested in the culture, literature, music, national revival and folklore traditions of the Slaves, especially Czechs and Slovaks and their promotion.
This study analyses the aesthetic foundations of the artistic and critical writing of W. Ritter at the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
