Abstract

Changes in levels of most demographic processes were observed, however their structures changed the most. Birth rate and death rate showed unexpected developments.

Life expectancy at birth increased fast especially among men, on the contrary, total fertility rate fell to extremely low levels. For the first time since the WWI, deaths outnumbered live births.

Fertility decline was accompanied by the decreasing nuptiality of never married and divorced.
