Cityscape is a continuously changing fluid space. I have chosen two from its many scapes – a wood-park surrounding the Hostivař dam and city streets – in order to analyse various walking experience.
Walking is in a peculiar way bidirectional: on one hand it connects humans with material world, on the other with walking we always (re)create our environment. Through walking everybody becomes a recipient as well as a producer of places and landscapes.
I argue that the dominant quality of the wood-park is “softness”, while “smoothness” is typical for the world of the street.
