Oblagium or the Adventure of Latin Dictionary

Publication at Catholic Theological Faculty |
2007

Abstract

The sense of the medieval Latin word oblagium became broader in medieval Latin-written documents of Czech origin than we can find in other medieval Latin vocabularies of Europe. This sense is probably also nearer to assumed etymology from Greek word ĺőëďăßá, than to Latin verb offero.

Its meaning is not only ?funeral charge for churche?, but it signifies various kinds of charges, not only for church, but also alms for poor people, sacrifice, and some religious act connected often with funeral, but not only money ( it could be also prayers or aliud opus pium)
