The paper is interested in the historical influence of the thought of a great French Bible scholar M.-J. Lagrange OP (1855-1938) on the formulation of the dogmatic constitution of the Vatican II, Dei Verbum.
First, it shows Lagrange's positions in the question of the inspiration of the Bible in the years preceding the antimodernist crisis and his place in the context of the Bible science of the times. Second, the paper is concerned with the influence of his thoughts after his death and last, it follows the imprints of his thought in the text of the dogmatic constitution Dei Verbum.
