This contribution introduces the personality of Vincenc Zapletal, a Catholic bible scholar. Since 1893, when named a professor of Old Testament exegesis, he taught at the theological faculty of Catholic University in Fribourg, Switzerland, until 1928.
In the second part of this study, Zapletal?s perception and notes upon contemporary political and social problems are presented, as they are conserved in his inheritance; these ideas of Zapletal convey us with a worthy view to the world of thought of a Catholic scholar and intelectual at the break of the 20th century.
