Residential migration is an important type of movement and in many cases the intra-urban migration plays the dominant role. It can lead to social decline or fast grow of small areas or creation of segregated localities; it has an impact on social stability of the location and its inhabitants.
The paper describes situation in Prague’s migration 1992 – 2006. The aim is to find out the processes which lead to the changes in migration behavior.
It aims to identify streams and sources of the migration and explain their changes during the time. It compares trends and processes known from modern cities with Prague and describe the specific trends there after The Velvet Revolution.
It analyzes the migration on the two different scales – small “urban districts” which the city consists of or city’s zones. Typology of Prague’s zones was made while each type is characterized by the housing age, quality and localization.
