Abstract

A critical essay about the life and cult of St. Gunther († 1045), based on the detailed treatment of two contemporaneous biography´s and one legend from the middle of 13th century (Vita s.

Guntheri). A special observation is dedicated to the attempt of Abbey of Břevnov and the attempt of of the King Ottokar II. for Gunthers canonisation in the 13th century.
