The presented contribution deals with pastoral care on the basis of biblical testimony. In the first part author theological-biblical explains the Old Testament witness of God as the Shepherd and the content of second part is consecutively devoted to the multivalent and unique theological meaning of Jesus Christ as the Shepherd and His service within the New Testament.
Subsequent next parts are also going out of the Bible and explain very briefly lexical meaning of some Greek concepts within the New Testament and theirs content brings nearer concrete pastoral activities within the Church community in connection with internal and external vocation of pastoral service. In conclusion of the study, it may become apparent a width of the pastoral service that implies the whole man, i.e. his body, soul and spirit.
