Report on the 10th Metropolis Conferences

Publication |
2005

Abstract

The 10th Metropolis conference was held in Toronto, Canada from October 17-21, 2005, under the title Our Diverse Cities: Migration, Diversity and Change. According to organizers, this was the most attended event of the Metropolis conferences, including some 1300 participants mostly from the North America, Australia and Europe (almost exclusively from the UK and Scandinavia).

The Metropolis project also celebrated its 10th anniversary. The fact that the conference was held in Canada and that participants were mostly from North America heavily marked the basic orientation of the optics through which the problems of contemporary migration were seen.

The other important feature was visible presence of participants from various governmental organizations, although academics and some non-governmental organizations were present, too.
