Abstract
The essay gives a brief outline of efforts for an amendment of wages of professors and for an improvement of their situation over all Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. It takes notice of activities of faculties of law and of new established universities, as for example in Chernivtsi (Černovice).
It shows, how academic communities tried to defend their freedoms and privileges, but the extent of their resistance against the might of state was not so great. But in contra distinction to out time, the prestige and appreciation of university professors was much higher.
