Abstract
The article presents the novel-cycle The Long Journey by J. V.
Jensen to the german speaking public. It documents, at the same time, that the cycle is conceived as a myth.
In contrast to the previous scholarly attempts to define the mythical caracter of the cycle, this article does not find the mythical in the lyrical traits but in the epical ones. The article is based on the Ph.
D. thesis "Myten i Johannes V. Jensens romancyklus Den lange Rejse (1908-1922).
