The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of application of the theory of planned behavior with special focus on its applications in sociology. The paper proceeds in two steps.
First, we present structure of the theory of planned behavior and we contrast it to some models of rational choice theory, showing that theory of planned behavior is superior by including social norms as explanatory variables. Second, we overview applications of the theory of planned behavior and we discuss some applications and extension of theory of planned behavior in sociology.
