Abstract

Textbook is in its main part devoted to development and current state of open access to information in science and research and to its main resources. The first part presents terminology issues and models of digital libraries („Kahn-Wilensky“ a OAIS).

The second part contains the survey of open access development and its main resources (centralized or distributed electronic eprint archives, institutional repositories and their registries, online journals etc.) including initiatives of its support. The third part presents selected systems of electronic archives or digital libraries in science and research (computer science, economics, library and information science, social sciences and the specific British system of internet resources Intute).
