Why is Quine a path-breaking philosopher?

Abstract

Quinean naturalism, later adopted, in various forms, by Davidson, Rorty and other philosophers, represents a true turning point of philosophy. Adherents of more traditional views of philosophy tend to see it as a dismantling of philosophy; this paper, however, defends the view that what is dismantled is not philosophy itself, but only its nonsensically inflated notion, which leads us to pursuing chimeras instead of solving genuine philosophical problems.
