A print version of the paper read at the conference accompanying the exhibition „The Glory of the Baroque in Bohemia“ in 2001. The author reflects his own, 10 years old survey of baroque research in the totalitarian era and of extra-scientific circumstances which influenced it.
Now, he rethinks the decade 1990-2000, a period of - on one hand - polarization of extreme positions (danger of apologetic concepts, but simultaneously surviving of the „black legend“), on the other hand, increasingly in the second half of the period, a more widespread reception of the era after 1620 as an integrate part of Czech history and a shift from polemics to a professional level.
