The author of the article explains the legislation on religious freedom of children in the Czech Republic from the 1860s until today. In addition to the Czech legislative framework,the author also explores protections of children’s freedom under international law.
An important component of religious freedom is the ability to choose or change one’s religious belief. The author points out certain interpretive problems in the current Czech law on churches from 2002, which increased the age at which parents cease to decide about children’s religion to 18 years of age.
