The paper aims to find the extent and the way in which czech historian Zdeněk Kalista continued (with his concept of the "intellectual history") in preceding tradition called Geistesgeschichte that appeared in German speaking countries mainly in the beginning of the twentieth century. The last part concentrates on the role that Kalista attributes to the subject in the process of "(re)experiencing" ("(znovu)prožívání").
The author seeks the positive aspects of often criticized historical method of "reexperiencing".
