Statins are widely used drugs and a large body of high-quality evidence has been reported of their therapeutic potential. Drug-drug interactions may substantially interfere with the therapeutic potential of the interacting drugs.
Some drug interactions with statins can be very serious and may even lead to severe conditions or death. Although rare, such events need to be considered and prevented.
The most common and most severe drug interactions with statins are analyzed and guidance is provided as to strategies for the clinical management of these drug-drug interactions.
