The paper deals with the transformation of rationality of representation as the transition from representation that is derived from the electoral program to representation that is derived from personality of politician. An enormous increase in available information on public and political affairs is presented as a reason of the change.
A large number of relevant information is confronted with cognitive limits of citizens. In the situation of information overload citizens are not able to confront election programs with the political and economic situation and to choose the best solution.
Therefore they choose a personality that carries choosing of the best possibility out for them. This also explains why the citizens' attention focuses instead of the factual information about political matters on information about the character and personality of politicians.
