This article describes the situation of media representation of privacy issues in political communication in the Czech Republic (2006-10). The text is a précis of the dissertation thesis Public Privacy: Interaction of Political Marketing and Media Communication on the Example of Private Life of Czech Politicians (1989-2010).
The thesis uses the critical discourse analysis (van Dijk 1998) to analyze the change in represented media image of privacy. Throughout the past years, which are examined in this article, private life also became a form of political tool for addressing the public and electorate and creating a "package" of their own desired political personality to get more political power.
