The Next 20 Years of Visegrad Cooperation

Abstract

The conference focused on debates surrounding the 20th aniversary of the Visegrad Group and motivated a rich debate on the current problems and future perspectives of the V4.First, an opening of the conference took place at the French Embassy in Bratislava with opening speeches by the Slovak Secretary of State and French Ambassador. Two panels of the conference took place at the Polish Institute in Bratislava, with approx. 50 participants in the audience.

The first concentrated on internal challenges for the future Visegrad cooperation and was chaired by Urban Rusnak, the first IVF director, with as speakers Petr Vágner, Soňa Szomolányi, Jiří Čistecký and Tomáš Strážay. The second panel concentrated on the external impact and activities of the V4, chaired by Andrzej Jagodziński, Director of the Polish Institute, with as speakers Jean-Pierre Pagé (CERI), Paweł Ukielski and Amélie Zima.
