Abstract
The chapter deals with educational inequalities from the perspective of educational policy. First part of the chapter summarizes the approaches of policy makers in developed countries towards educational inequalities and explains which aspects of education systems are regarded as most important.
The second part presents selected indicators describing inequalities in the system of compulsory education and seeks an answer to the question how is the issue perceived by Czech society and Czech policy makers.
