Endoscopic variceal band ligation compared with propranolol for prophylaxis of first variceal bleeding

Abstract

Administration of nonselective beta-blockers in prophylaxis of first variceal bleeding is not suitable for all patients. Endoscopic variceal band ligation is an effective and safe alternative.
