How the Fiction of Jakuba Katalpa has Successfully Demolished Gender Determination.

Abstract

The works of Jakuba Katalpa have managed to provoke discussions of gender iconoclasm that may occur in literature, and of the relationship of such literature to social life. The article explains the nature of the iconoclasm while focusing on Katalpa''s fiction "Je hlína k snědku", 2006 (Is Earth edible?), but also discusses some aspects of "Hořké moře", 2008 (Bitter Sea).
