Isolation and Cholinesterase Activity of Amaryllidaceae Alkaloids from Nerine bowdenii

Abstrakt

The alkaloid extract from the bulbs of Nerine bowdenii Watson was analysed by means of GC/MS. Twenty-two alkaloids were detected and one alkaloid was isolated in pure form.

The alkaloid extract and isolated compound belladine were tested against human blood cholinesterase and human plasma butyrylcholinesterase.
