Chronic kidney disease related mineral and bone disorders is due to decresed renal function. It is caused by alteration in homeostasis of calcium and phosphorus, increased secretion of parathyroid hormone with decresed clearance of its fragments, chronic acidosis, decresed production of calcitriol, alteration of growth factors and changes in system RANK/RANKL/OPG.
Treatment of hyperphosphatemia and secondary hyperparathyroidism improves growth and high-turnower bone disease.
