Regarding the Importance of Writing in Teaching of the Czech Language for Foreigners

Abstract

The article focuses on the importance of writing skills in teaching the Czech language for foreigners. Nowadays, the communicative method that encourages the balance of all speaking skills is frequently chosen for the foreigners teaching.

Writing, however, is often neglected or underestimated both in teaching and in homework preparation. Moreover, the number of modern language textbooks doesn''t provide sufficient space for writing skills training and often fails to motivate their practicing.

In this article the author describes not only the importance of practicing writing skills for practical use, but also points out the possibilities and limits of the speaking skills practice.
