The article analyses a biography of a peasant, "Richter" of his village (F. Vavak) written and published by a professor of philosophy (F.

Niemetschek) in 1796 as a pedagogical book for Czech peasants. On the one hand, the author is trying to propose a model in accordance with Volksaufklärung.

On the other hand, he cannot not reflect the discussions about the situation of the peasants in the Habsburg monarchy and about the French Revolution, so that his aim is also to reinforce social cohesion. Niemetschek''s discourse is strongly impacted by the way he considers his task: the transmission of a message to a public supposed to be different from himself.
