Reception of electronic literature with an accent on interactive narrative in the "digitally born" generation
Abstract
Books have been accompanying human beings now for hundred years but with the emergence of new media, and the ever-increasing role of the Internet, we have simultaneously become accustomed to electronic texts, in addition to actually accepting them as a reality. Portable reading devices have been appearing on the market since 1998, and bearing in mind the concept of remediation, we can consider them being an interweaving of books and new media.
E-literature has slowly, but surely, found its readers. However, e-literature as yet poses no threat to books, as some have been predicting since the last decade of 20th century.
The following article focuses on one of the genres of e-literature: interactive narrative. The first part introduces its theoretical basis, while the second reveals the latest results of an ongoing survey focusing on readers'' perceptions of the concept in the broader context of e-literature.
