The medical disciplines of psychiatry and neurology share the interest in the processes of the brain. In the past, they were often considered a single specialization with different branches, but the pressure of stigma and the differences in methods have been keeping them apart.
However, great psychiatrist were often also notable neurologists and vice versa. The chapter in the book reviews the similarities and differencies between the two medical discipline in the course of history.
It also provides arguments for the assumption that the progress in neuroscience will facilititate a new understanding between psychiatrists and neurologists.
