Abstract
The article deals with the beginnings of Etruscan archaeology - from myths to facts related to material culture, from Renaissance to the foundations of modern Etruscan archaeology. It focuses on the researchers that studied the Etruscans, discoverer s of Etruscan sites and antiquities and the state of Etruscan studies in the early modern era.
Last but not least it touches the subject of reference to Etruscan topics in the early modern works of art.
